P. Brooks LaRou, Esq.

A Virginia native, I was born and raised in Richmond, where I attended my hometown college, Virginia Commonwealth University, for undergraduate studies. As a first-generation college graduate, I have always viewed it as my duty to pay forward the education I receive to create positive change within my community. While studying psychology and sociology at VCU, I worked as a research assistant in a neuroscience lab and mentored high school students interested in health sciences. After graduation, I began volunteering with the disAbility Law Center of Virginia, where my passion for the law and advocating for social justice began to develop.

After deciding to pursue this interest as a career, I moved to Miami, Florida, and attended the St. Thomas University Benjamin L. Crump School of Law, where I graduated cum laude with a concentration in Intercultural Human Rights and served as staff editor for the school’s Intercultural Human Rights Law Review. During my tenure at St. Thomas, I was recognized for my dedication to public service, receiving a pro bono commendation for my volunteer work as a legislative assistant to the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners. My passion for serving the disadvantaged members of my community and my strong work ethic fuel the results I routinely obtain for my clients.

For most of my legal career, I have advocated for employees whose workplace rights have been violated under federal labor and employment laws, including the ADA, FMLA, FLSA, Title VII, and their state and local counterparts – representing clients before state and federal courts within the State of Florida as well as administrative agencies such as the EEOC. At FairLaw Firm, I counsel employers and employees on avoiding and navigating work-related issues. My diverse client base includes employers and employees involved in adversarial proceedings at all stages of litigation in the Florida state and federal courts, in arbitrations, and before various administrative bodies.
